Character required to carry the fire!

By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires. In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins. So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away. Then God will give you a grand entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 1:3-11 NLT)

God is more interested in the development of our character and us becoming Christ-like than He is our career. We are called to develop our character so that we may sustain the position of influence that His gifts and callings promote us to. Many men and women have fallen from a place that the gifting in them has exalted them to, but their lack of character has caused this to be a temporary assignment. Since salvation, Holy Spirit, gifts of the Spirit, five fold ministry, and anything else we receive from Father are all gifts, we must be diligent about developing our character to correctly carry the glory of our Father! Just as no one would want to drink pure water from a dingy, dirty glass, neither do men want to hear the “Gospel Message” from a sin saturated saint. It takes a steady hand to carry a full cup!
May we humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, resist the devil, crucify our flesh and the lusts thereof, so that we might rise and walk in a life that reflects the character and power that brings fame, and not shame to the Name of Jesus!

We must raise our limited expectation up to God’s unlimited ability. Since faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God, (Romans 10:17) we must continually feed on God’s Word so that we can believe that He is who He says He is, He still does what He always did, and that He causes all things to work together for good to those who love Him. Jesus speaks that we are not to live by bread alone, but rather by every Word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. It is through the hearing of His eternal Word, the hearing of the testimonies of this Word being fulfilled, and demonstrated in, and through the life of simple believers that we have faith to believe Him for the impossible today. The power of the testimony is that God has not changed, that He still does today what He did yesterday. So today may we feed on His Word so that we may walk in faith believing Him for the impossible. For without faith it is impossible to please Him, for if any man come to God, he must believe that He is, and that He is a REWARDER of them that diligently seek Him.

Don’t waste a moment!

Sometimes, our days can be so full and busy that we forget how precious and fragile life on earth really is. It can be easy to allow little things to creep in and steal our peace and joy. Maybe something doesn’t go our way, or someone says something upsetting. Even traffic can cause us to get our focus off if we let it.

We have to remember that each day is a gift. If we choose to focus on what’s wrong, we’ll miss the beauty that each day has to offer.I encourage you today: don’t let the precious moments of life pass you by. Don’t wait for holidays and birthdays to show people that you care. Remember, each day is unique and irreplaceable. You have been given time that can be invested or wasted; hours that can be used or misused.

That’s why the psalmist prayed to God, “Teach us to number our days.” He was saying, Teach us to value every moment we’ve been given. As you keep a proper perspective, you’ll gain a heart of wisdom. You’ll draw closer to God and experience the full blessing that He has for you!

Build on rock and not on sand!

In the scripture that I have posted below, it is evident that if we want Christian principles to be the foundation in the schoolhouse, courthouse and White House, then it must be the foundation in your house and my house! Example: Susannah Wesley was the mother of 19 children, including John and Charles Wesley. Through much adversity, she dedicated her life to instilling a sense of Christian Destiny into each of her children. Her children went on to change the world. ~ “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to YOUR CHILDREN, and shall talk of them when you sit in YOUR HOUSE, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of YOUR HOUSE and on YOUR GATES. (Deuteronomy 6:4-9 NKJV) “IF” the Word of God becomes the foundation in the home once again then we will have godly adults leading this nation because it will have a ripple effect in every house!

Eternal Significance!

I went to the funeral home last night to encourage the man who loved me enough to pray for me, and share Jesus with me, whose father had just graduated to eternity. While I was standing there with him, he introduced me to the man whom had prayed for and loved him enough to introduce him to Jesus! I then left and went to the hospital to see a young man who has been given a second chance at life through much prayer of many people. While there, I shared my testimony of Jesus Christ, and he invited Jesus to be Savior and Lord of his life! Oh that we would love Jesus more than our life, possessions and reputation so that we would not be ashamed of the Good News of Jesus Christ! For our life is short, eternity is eternal, and soon to be a reality for us all!

The price of our sin!

But he was pierced for our rebellion,
crushed for our sins.
He was beaten so we could be whole.
He was whipped so we could be healed. All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.
We have left God’s paths to follow our own.
Yet the LORD laid on him
the sins of us all. (Isaiah 53:5, 6 NLT)

Nailed on a cross and there He bled,
a crown of thorns thrust on His head!
The price of sin in crimson red,
the Son of God who payed our dread!

For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:21 NLT)

What a Wonderful Savior is our King, The Lord Jesus Christ!

There is a key to living in victory on this side of ETERNITY!

“Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God: (Deuteronomy 28:1, 2 NKJV) In the first 14 verses of Deuteronomy Ch. 28 Moses speaks the words blessings, blessed and bless ten times. The key to walking in the blessings of Almighty God all hinge on a condition mentioned in the first two verses which I have posted above! The condition is “if you diligently obey, observe carefully, because you obey.” The prophet Samuel sums up this key to walking in victory: So Samuel said: “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams. (1 Samuel 15:22 NKJV) We may never regain in repentence what we lose through disobedience! Pray, hear and obey, for with God, there is no other way!

Water walking with Jesus!

But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” (Matthew 14:30 NKJV) The winds of culture may be boisterous and fear may fill your heart, but if you will but cry out to Jesus, He is sure to fulfill His part! For when the sea of life surrounds you, and you are struggling to stay afloat, just cry out to the one they call Jesus, and He will walk you back to the boat!…Or better yet, keep your eyes focused on Jesus and keep walking on the water!!

Glowing for His Glory!

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:16 NKJV)

Allow the fire of the Holy Spirit within, to glow while in the presence of others, so that in seeing the signs, wonders and miracles, they will realize that they have encountered the presence of the Lord, since they know that what they have experienced is humanly impossible, and in doing so they turn to the One True God with heartfelt adoration and praise!

Meditative thoughts early this morning while spending time in His presence!

Determining Focus

Whatever things are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, and of good report– these are the things to meditate and set our minds on. Philippians 4:8
